Hygge coming to a home near you
Have you heard of the latest trending concept Hygge? If you haven’t heard about it, firstly where have you been?? Secondly you will once you’ve read this, you’ll realise you’ve seen it everywhere. It was big in 2016 and will be even bigger this year with books coming out and just about everyone from magazines to bloggers writing about it.
Hygge which originates from the Danish people doesn’t have a direct translation but its meaning is the cosiness created when enjoying good food, drinks and fireside times with dear friends and family.
Inspired by this, I managed to book a knitting session before Christmas with @imakeknots at West Elm in Central London, I had a great time knitting my handmade large knitted scarf using merino wool.
Since then I’ve become a little obsessed with everything Hygge and wanted to look at adding this influence in around the home, below are a few pics from my initial attempt to make my own chunky knitted throw (see pics including my own and Pinterest inspiration below). Nothing like setting a cheeky New Year resolution. So wish me luck and hopefully I will have a beautiful throw before the end of the year! Ha
